Summary: Amber McCloud has positioned herself to become cheer captain at the end of her junior year, but the unexpected death of the school’s beloved quarterback throws a wrench in her pom poms. When the football team’s new QB turns out to be Jaclyn “Jack” Walsh—a girl—the players resist the change, and the cheer squad follows suit. To make her cheer captain dreams a reality, Amber needs to go along with the squad’s desire to ice out Jack, which would be a lot easier if she and Jack weren’t falling for each other. When trying to walk the line between team spirit and sticking up for her crush gets increasingly more difficult, Amber realizes she may have to choose between her cheer aspirations and her affection for Jack.
